Travel Journal :SPAIN ’12
Hi,readers!
I haven’t done any “travel journal” post lately and the wanderlust has got me…that’s why I decided to make this post, today…so that I can swim through my wonderful memories of last year’s experiences in Spain.
Last year,we spent one week in wonderful Spain.
We spend 6 days in L’Escala and 1 day in Barcelona.
L’Escala is one of the smaller holidays resorts in the Costa Brava/Catalonia region – it is not far from the border with France and is perfect for people who want to avoid the mass-market package holiday resorts.
We went with my boyfriend’s family…so we booked a wonderful apartmanet with pool for the whole week.
It was quite expensive for a week, but I felt in love with it within a few days.
Take a look:
The most amazing thing about this apartment was the view in the morning.
We had a wonderful sea-view(we were like…only 5 steps away from the seaport)
We spent a lot of time at the pool…but we also spent a lot of time at the beach.
L’Escala has some really lovely beaches.
The best of L’Escala beaches are the sandy crescents ( Platja de Les Muscleres, Platja del Portitxol, Platja Montgo) that stretch between L’Escala and Sant Marti D’Empuries.
We definitely felt in love with this place and with its magic aura.
We will return…someday!

BARCELONA:
We wanted to spend our last day of vacation in Barcelona.
Barcelona was on our bucket list for a long time
We’ve always wanted to visit the city of Gaudi:D
We took the train at 6 a.m from L’Escala and 3 1/2 hours later we were at our desired destination:BARCELONA
The shitty part was to come:we didn’t book any hotel cuz we thought we will find a free room near the train station…but we didn’t find any…as we planned.(a important soccer match took place in Barcelona that day,and all the hotel rooms were fully booked )
We went to a tourist information center…and they managed to book us a room…..in a 5 stars hotel
Imagine how happy we were to spend our last night in a 5 stars hotel (not happy at all)
We payed over 150 € for one night…and we spent just 5 hours in there cuz we were there to explore the city, not to spend our last day at the hotel’s pool bar
However,we checked in at 12 a.m. …a lil bit later than we thought we will be doing it and we went out to find a “sight-seeing bus” station.
10 minutes later we were on a “hop on,hop off bus”.
I reached most of the places I wanted to visit. Things don’t normally go according to plan, we actually had to miss out some places…cuz there wasn’t enough time to see them all:(
One day in this fabulous city was definately too short and we are looking forward to another visit to take a closer look.
We also went to some shopping stores….I’m really sad that the coolest stores like :Victoria’s Secret,Stradivarius,Blanco,Pull&Bear are still missing in Vienna.
This city mesmerized us!
We plan a further trip to Barcelona…and this time it will be a longer one!
Have you ever been to Barcelona?
Do you have any secret advices for our next trip?
xoxo
