road trip to Trieste

“once a year go someplace you’ve never been before”
A few weeks ago we decided that we need a short vacay ASAP.
We both felt the need for some VITAMIN SEA so ITALY sounded just perfect.
Last thursday we packed our bags and went for a road trip with our new car ❤
After a 6 hours ride we arrived at our first destination:TRIESTE
We didn’t book anything…we wanted to be spontaneous (not one of our best ideas)
Hotels are way more expensive if you go last-minute…if you wanna do a spontaneous trip, please book a hotel in advance.
We paid a double-rate for a ***Hotel(Hotel B&B Novo Impero)
I’m not complaining…we had a nice room with our own private balcony and a sooper yummy breakfast.
But next time I’ll book online haha
In summer Trieste is beautiful, with cafés having their tables set on the cobblestone streets and sidewalks, where you can sip a cappuccino – or even better, an Aperol spritz, have a gelato, or a pasta or pizza in one of the traditional osterias.
For most visitors, Trieste is more of a stopover destination on the way to somewhere else than a destination in it’s own right. And fair enough. The reality is there are only a few main sights and things to do, Piazza dell’Unita d’Italia, Miramare Castle, and riding the Opicina hybrid tram and funicular.
We took a ride with the ferris wheel.
MY FACE SAYS IT ALL!haha
Italy is mesmerizing…don’t you think?!
Of course the reality of living long-term in Italy would be much different. The shine would quickly wear off when faced with Italian bureaucracy, slow internet, and the nuances of day-to-day Italian life.
I’d no doubt never get tired of Italian food haha
